What materials are VEKOO Sport Bottles made from?
We use the highest grade Polycarbonate polymer from Bayer Plastics Makrolon that is approved by FDA water storage. In addition we perform leaching assays and tests on the bottles to ensure that there are no plasticizer and leached chemicals present in the contained water. The dyes used to add color to our bottles are non-toxic and safe. Our bottles are extremely durable (both to temperature and to impact) and unbreakable. Leak proof at any altitude, shatterproof, and even autoclavable. The bottles can withstand temperatures of -135 ºC (-211 º F)to 135 ºC (275ºF). They are safe to use - containing no toxic chemicals - and come in a variety of sizes and colors.
What exactly is polycarbonate?
Polycarbonate which is also known as Makrolon is the strongest form of plastic currently available for water bottles. It has GLASS-LIKE Clarity, Appearance, and Durability. It will also withstand substantial heat and will NOT distort its shape or develop an odor or give a funny "plastic" taste to the water or any other edible. It is by far the most costly, but it offers the longest life of any plastic currently used for water storage and consumption. This type of plastic can be identified with a #7 inside the recycling triangle on the bottom of the bottle.
Is polycarbonate safe to use?
Our product is produced in a class 1000, clean room environment, where we aseptically package the bottles and caps together. The bio-burden (living organism, bacteria, spores, etc..) are undetectable. This makes our product safer and ready to use the instant you receive it. You DON'T even need to wash it before the first use. Whatever edible liquid is stored in our bottle remains unaltered in composition, flavor and taste. Moreover it can be frozen or heated (in a pan of water) used in a microwave and even autoclaved.
